For dogs who lunge at other dogs

He isn’t disobedient. He’s over threshold.

There’s a distance where your dog can still hear you — and a distance where he can’t. Find the first one, and walks stop being something you dread.

Three printable cards. No corrections, no special equipment.

Distance from the other dogThe eat-test
0–20 ft  Won’t eat. Nothing you say lands. 60 ft +  Soft mouth. He can still think.

The method

You cannot teach a drowning dog to swim

Past a certain distance, another dog stops being information and becomes a threat. Adrenaline rises, hearing narrows, and food stops mattering. That’s not disobedience — it’s a body preparing to run.

This is why being firmer failed. At the moment you were being firmer, he wasn’t capable of receiving anything at all. And if the firmness involved a leash pop or a prong collar, his brain quietly built the equation other dog = pain — the exact association driving the barking.

Find the distance where he can still think. Work there. Then shrink it, five feet at a time.

That’s the whole method. Everything else is how you build it — a marker he understands under stress, an exit that works on a word, and a rule that stops you moving faster than he can handle.

Send me the cards

My dog’s number today

42 feet

Soft mouth— under threshold
Snatchy— back up ten feet
Won’t eat— leave now

No corrections

No prong collars, no e-collars, no shock. Pain paired with the sight of another dog is what created many of these cases.

Honest timelines

Visible change in two weeks. Real change over two to three months. Anyone promising days is describing suppression.

Knows its limits

If your dog has bitten, is escalating, or reacts to people — the book tells you to see a professional instead.
